Default About this site...

Hi again all. Recently joined here.

Perhaps I am not getting off to a good start with this thread, however just felt like airing some concerns/observations.

Firstly, there seems to be an awful lot of spamming in threads. Rubbish like "click here to see Angelina Jolie in bra". Is this an old problem? Is something ever likely to be done about it?

Second, there is obvisouly a fair amount of traffic. I can tell by post views going up. However, there does not seem to be a lot of interaction going on. Are people here shy?

Lastly, how about an off-toic section? Thats where I would have stuck this thread. There just wasn't one for me to do so.

PS - not related to the site, just general wondering about something. IS videography now a very popular hobby? Its just that finding photography sites and info is easy. Videography, far less so. If it is less popular, why exactly is that, do you think?

Anywya, bye for now.

There is an off topic section on the forum it's under General Discussion->Forum Announcements, News and Off Topic. I've been on this forum for over two years and have enjoyed being here and contributing whatever I can. I've been on other forum's and they were dreadful, you would see more life in funeral home or they jump down your throat everytime you post something and it just drives everyone away.

The appearance of everything from mail order brides to doing your tax returns to naked pictures of Angelina Jolie (is that really her?) appears to be a recent development. I presume there are user's who are offended by it and I'm certain steps are being taken to curtail it, you should address any complaints to a moderator or the boss man himself, Marc.

It does seem like very few post any useful comments to many posts. I also am new here and was in hopes that people would have information on the new AVCHD HD camcorders and the needed software to edit the M2TS files but I just don't see it happening.

Hello and welcome to the forums. I'll do my best to answer some of your questions. As far as the spam goes I delete it when I see it, if its a first time poster or a very new poster that keeps spaming or post porn spam I ban them on the spot, if their a regualar poster that been around awile I'll give them a warning. Most people here are pretty helpfull but sometimes it may seem like no ones here because we keep odd hours. A lot of the questions are redundant and you'll most likely find you answers by doing a search. Videography is definitly growing, I feel the reason photography is growing faster is that its more forgiving then video, coming from a commericial photography background I think video is harder and more expensive, but also allows you to be more creative. I hope I was able to answer some of your questions, and as always if you need anything just ask, If I can't help you I will point you in the right direction.

Thanks for the replies all.

Embarassed that I missed the Off Topic section I probably did not look past "forum annoucements"...

And apologies for all my typos! I really should proof read things first. Some of it just did not come across how I wanted, especially typing "now" instead of "not".

Anyway, again, thanks for replies!
