Default Surfing Video

I take photos of local surfers. I want to expand into doing video. could anyone recommend a camcorder. It would need

1. an excellent long range zoom lens.
2. an ability to work occasionally in poor light as I live on the north east coast of england which has plenty of dull days during the surfing season

can anyone recommend a camera?

The camera I use at present for stills has a 500mm lens which is almost ideal. I am not sure what that relates to in terms of magnification(perhaps 12 times).

What is your budget and what format of camcorder are you looking at? Do you have a computer setup and do you want to get into editing or just watch what you've recorded on tv again?
