Default Right then...

Ok, so I've been asking a lot of questions and I thought I'd pull everything together in this one thread.

I'm buying a new camcorder. Yay. Thing is, I'm not sure which one to choose. Any advice? Here are my MUST HAVEs.

1) Mini DV recording format
2) External microphone slot
3) Able to edit my footage in Sony Vegas 8.0. (I don't have a firewire port either, if that helps)
4) And I have a maximum budget of £200 ($400). Not a lot, I know.

Really appreciate all your help

Chapman Photography is an unknown quantity at this point

Most will have those, check specs at BandH photo, the only real problem will be the mic.

You need a firewire port to capture from miniDV. Geta firewire port. Consider it a prerequisite. If you don't then you'll be transferring across a USB link and then your next post will be asking why the quality is so bad.

Oh, ok. Do you know if there's anything I can buy for my laptop so that it can support firewire? As in... (i'm just guessing here), perhaps there's something that plugs into USB one end, and has a firewire port the other?

I dunno.

EDIT: I found this; 2 Port Firewire PCMCIA Card USBNow.co.uk

Think it'll be any good?
