My 3 year old JVC GR-DX97 which has never been used, just charged every other month to keep the battery alive, was plucked from its pristine box this evening to be mounted in my car to record track sessions.

I turned it on to be greeted by a "lens cover" message, unfortunately the lens cover had already been removed. CCD fault. :(

So my question.

I need a budget (£1-200) miniDV camera that will be suitable for mounting on my clamp, in car and for recording track driving.

I guess it doesn't need to be anything special, just relatively light and compatible with a PC so I can download and edit the video clips.

I found a Sony DCR-HC24E for £130 (2nd hand, but like new apparantly) that seems to fit the bill, thoughts?
