Default Sharp VL WD250

Greetings all
This is my first post so please go easy.

I have a Sharp VL WD250.
What do I need to enable me to copy the mini DV tapes to my pc.

Oh yeah.............major problem first .............that's after I manage to release the tape from the damn machine.
Battery fully charged or mains power...........open the door and the tape does not eject. There is also the 'Eject Tape' message on the screen.

Pleeeease help.................somebody!!

If it's a miniDV camera then to 'capture' the footage (better word than 'copy to PC') you will need to connect the camera tothe computer wiht a firewire lead to a firewire port on the computer. Strange that they never seem to provide said firewire lead but they are cheap enough.

once connected your capture s/w can then take control of the camera and you can play, rewinf etc the camera from the capture s/w.

Hope that helps a little.

As to ejecting the tape. Not familiar with the camera but boht my Sony camcorders, when I open the tape mechanism that seems to trigger the eject mechanism itself ratehr than have a seperate eject button to opener.

You're right..............capture does sound better. Thanks for the info.

The eject mechanism is activated when you open the casstte 'door'. When I do it now, the mechanism clicks a few times limply and then nothing..........stuck
