Hmm, I managed to find a Canon MVX3i (Optura Xi) for $800 http://www.acesclub.com/shop/Product.asp?sku=9000A001 doesn't leave you much change, but a good few reviews put this as the next best thing to a 3CCD camera (which is out of your price range for a brand new one).

I'd say pour most of your money on the cam. You can always buy (borrow?) peripherals as and when you need them!

no, i know for a fact that you can get 3CCD cameras for around 600 bux
