Default Cannon ZR 45 MC help with sound

So I have a Cannon ZR 45 MC camera that uses MiniDV tapes. When I play back video on the camera through the LCD screen, no sound comes out. I never hear sound coming out of it. If I capture the video on the computer, the sound is there and I can hear it then. Is there just a setting that is on my camera that I muted or something? Or do you think my speaker is broken?
Please help!
thank you

The tiny wheel thing (the one that you use as a menu selection aid) usually doubles as a volume control in playback mode with the lcd open.

Check through your menu settings to see if the audio from the playback speaker has been muted as you have already stated. Do you have any leads or sockets plugged into the camcorder when playing back tapes? Or do you have the camcorder connected to the computer when you have the lcd screen open, you may only be able to send the audio to one place at a time and the computer may take preference over the playback speaker if this is the setup.

when i view it on the lcd screen is when i can't hear any sound. There is nothing hooked up to the camera when i do this. How would I be able to check the menu to see if I muted the sound?

Do you get sound via headphones (assuming you have a headphone socket)?

I'm beginning to think that the built-in speaker is knackered. Not the end of the world though....

...the onboard speaker is not working.

Have it repaired or live with it.

I could live with it if I could still get by with headphones.

thank you for helping me figure it out. I might try to repair it myself or I can probably just live with it. I never used the headphones before but now I probably will, its a good idea.
Thanks for your help!
