Unhappy SONY DCR-HC96 Alternative

Hi this is my first post and one written in desperation, hopefully someone on here will be able to help.

After months of searching, reading and pondering I had made the decision that the Sony DCR-HC96 was the camera for me.

Unfortunately at the same time Sony decided to refresh there range and make it obsolete.

So this is where I am hoping you can help

I need an alternative, the main bits of the spec which drew me to the sony were:-
  • mini dv to prevent loss due to vibration
  • AV IN - for connection of a bullet cam and mic for recording in car footage
  • capture of stills (3MP)
  • size
Anyone know of a comparative device

TIA

I've had a look at the spec but it doesn't mention AV in which I need for my Bullet cam and Mic for filming in car footage, am I missing something?

I have found a Sony now so am happy, buying a product which is no longer in production isn't something I would normally do but as there appears to be nothing else on the market which is comparative I felt it was the only option.

AV in seems to be a thing of the past now there are very few cameras with this option? Why?

I'm sure someone has better details they can share but this seems to be a UK thing. Often as not camcorders have the AV-IN disabled. It's a licencing/legal thing. With DV-IN then they are classed as video recorders and so subject to different laws or something.

Often the AV-IN where diabled can be re-enabled. I don't know how though.
