Hi there,
I recently filmed a wedding on my Z1E, using JVC mini DV tapes. In total i used 4 tapes. All the tapes are fine apart from the 3rd tape? When i am playing it back (on the Z1E) I am getting no picture or sound. Although, when the tape is playing, if I press fast-forward i get a picture. The picture is only the bottom half of the screen and the rest is greyed out.
Can anyone help me with this problem or suggest a soloution.
Is there any specialists I can send this tape too, who might be able to save the footage?
Regards
H

How does it look after you captured it? And why do you use jvc tapes in a sony?I think you are better of sticking with original (and unused) Sony tapes for important recordings.

Hi
had a problem recently with the camera flashing a message to eject, also barring across the image, a combination of two shots. i cleaned the heads to no avail but then was told that a good idea is to fully fast forward a new tape then rewind then start using. Did this an have had no more problems. It evens out the tension on the tape. I'm not suggesting this is the problem here but try and see if it helps
Regards
David

Have youmixed brands of mini DV tape at all. Specifically, Sony branded tapes with others. There's a history of Sony using a different 'lube' or soemthign and when combined with teh 'lube' from other tapes it can clog things up good.
Also, do try a good tape head cleaner and see if that makes any difference.
Tryu the tape in a nother camera. If it does the saem then I suspect it's lost. sorry.

It doesnt matter what brand of tape you use as long as you pick one and stick with it....
Just like there's no actual difference in picture quality between a "HDV" branded Mini DV tape and just a plain old "Mini DV" branded one.
