Default to buy or not to buy??

Hi Guys and Gals,
Am thinking of upgrading to a new vid cam. My problem is which format - standard dv or high def?
As I do a few weddings and film local productions, the customer ends up with an edited dvd in standard dv to watch on their standard tv. My question is, what would be the point of spending an extra $2000 on a high def camera when the final result would be down converted to standard dv?

What are your feelings on this? Am I in a rutt and need to get with the latest technology??

Cheers, Mardi
