Default Jvc Camera problems?

I am having problems trying to get Digital Photo's from camcorder to pc. I have got a JVC gr dvx44 and i have connected the lead from the camcorder socket which says pc digital photo to com 2. I am using jlip video capture to scan for devices in com 2 but it says no device? every time i scan. And the camcorder is set to play at the same time. Normally it says it's found the device and then i can control the camcorder from my pc to take my digital photos using the dv controller then and all the other functions rewind/fast forward etc. But this is not working because it does not find the device in the begining. Hope somebody can help me?
What i am doing wrong?
