thanks..that link was very good..

i am getting a new one to do the editing so i better make sure its got the firewire card in it

much obliged

my last concern is a sound or video card..the software i plan to buy has this information and somewhere in there must be the info..

http://www.ulead.co.uk/vs/sysreq.htm

and have been offered this pc for £260..i would need to get a monitor etc to complete it as a stand alone unit to edit on.

AMD Sepmron with a speed equivilant to an Intel 3.4Ghz CPU,
1GB of DDR Memory with enough space to upgrade to 3GB+.
160Gb HDD and the required DVDRW.
standard graphics card is a Geforce 6100 (integrated) and onboard
soundcard, both of which are Direct x 9 happy.

not all of this makes sense regarding editing..but i have settled on the ulead studio+ software

many thanks
geof
