Default Sony DCR Camcorders and Surround Sound

Hey guys, sorry to jump straight in with a question but I promise I'll stick around afterwards!

So I got this Sony DCR SR90E camcorder for my christmas, and it's really nice except for one thing. I can't seem to get it to record audio in stereo! Is there a setting for this? I've seriously looked everywhere!

Alternatively, does anyone have a solution for converting mpeg-2 audio from 5.1 to stereo?

Thanks for your help!

alex

Why do you want to downconvert the audio from 5.1 to two channels?

Firstly, because VideoStudio doesn't support it, and secondly because I don't have or want a 5.1 setup

Okie dokes. Never done this before, but to downmix from 5.1 to 2 channel I've found this tutorial: http://turkish.doom9.org/index.html?/oagmachine.htm

Worth a go, eh?

You know, I had a "duhhhh" moment when I read your post

I actually have a program already that can do this! It's called MediaCoder if you're interested. It took a lot of experimentation to get an output format that actually worked, but I've got it now. Thanks for your help! I wish there was a setting on the camcorder though :(
