Default sony handycam dcr hc44. problem with non genuine battery

hi all, has anyone come across this problem i have with a non genuine battery.

its fully charged but when i put it on my camcorder after about 30 secs i get a message telling me to refit the infolithium battery.

its as though the genuine battery is coded and non genuine will not work.

any help would be great

I have nver had this problem and have 2 sony cameras - odd

yes sure is strange. it looks like i may have to purchase another genuine battery.
its just the price is scary.
