Default Secret Cameras

Hello,
First I have to state that I' m a total newbie to video editing.
In case I would like to record a scene with a secret camera and then edit the video, what should be:
1. The specs of the camera
2. The specs of the video editing software.
I intend to shoot in the night as well.
Thank you,
Rocco.
