Does the title make sense? Hope so.

I've "accidentally" downloaded some HD avi files that, if I put them onto a DVD RW, are not seen by my LITEON DVD/HDD recorder. The error it gives is an "Incompatible File".
And so to my question...

How can I convert an HD AVI to a none HD AVI that my DVD player will both see and play?
I've tried Nero (Registered) no joy,
I tried a programme called "AlltoAVI" No joy
I tried drinking till I couldn't type no more... Problem went away, briefly....
Please help guys n gals. It took me over 2 weeks to download all 3 series of Battlestar Galactica (By accident................................)
