Thread: Copying video from computer cd

I have an interactive computer cd, a holiday rep's guide to Hungary. I'd like to copy some of the footage and convert it to vob format, or any intermediate format, so that I can play it on my set-top video player. How can I do this? I don't understand how the video is actually stored.
Files on the cd that might be relevant include:

PSD_X.VCD (1 KB)
FILELIST.PHP (1 KB)
H_SMILES.SWF (29519 KB)
AVSEQ01.DAT (218167 KB)
DIGITAL_MEMORIES.EXE (1784 KB)

and others of the same type.
"Hungary Smiles" is the snippett that I want. If I double click on the .swf file I get a black Flash window.

The swf file is mostly likely the one. It's an Abobe Flash file and I suspect will contain the video you want.

How to get the stuff out of it though is another matter and I can;t help with that.

Solved it! Here's what I learned.
You can view a swf file by dragging and dropping it into internet explorer.
I downloaded a freeware program "Swf Avi Convert :: Free Converter :: 1.0" which again has a simple interface and converts the swf file to Avi, which I can easily edit and save in the vob format I want.
