With all the talk about getting AVCHD files into a NLE, preferably one you already have and not have to go out and buy a new version. If I was to convert the AVCHD to DV-AVI 2 and keep all the settings at their highest will I get a larger file, smaller file or will it be the same size if no compression is used? And will Windows 32Bit be able to play it back smoothly?

I rendered a 1 minute avchd for a test and the .mts file in 50i HD was 111,438Kb

I rendered this file down to avi DV 720 x 576 and it increased in size to 215,112Kb

Double the size, and a quarter of the pixels!

That's a serious increase in megabytes. Thanks for the info.
