0 Videos nominated Video Of the Month(s): 0 | | predator effect in AE
hi..
I saw i video on here a while back of some1 using a predator like effect - ie a person is made semi invisable .. I would imagine that this was done by tacking a person wearing black maybe, then replaced by the background which was made to be distorted some how....
can any1 tell me how this was done, or even better give me a link to a tutorail..... also would a moving camera be just as easy to do as a still one - i would assume so?????
any ideas??
nice1

Depending on which video it was I might just be in a position to be able to tell you exactly how it was done.
Was it football based and did it end with the tag line "Predator 3 - West Ham Nil"? If so it was mine and I have documented here how i did it before. Arguably it needs a more formal tutorial. It took bloody ages I can tell you but it did not need AE to do it. Edited in Premiere Pro 1.5 (I think) with the predator effect rotoscoped in Photoshop. The plasma canon effect was a combination of effects from the Matrox RT.X100 card (and actually rendered in real time - sweet!).
Oh and for the record I did NOT blue screen it. I just took footage and rotoscoped in PS.
If there's demand I'll write it up a bit more formally.

I think I spotted a 'Predator' style effect on the Creative Cow website recently.

That's the link but I get the same problem. Sorry. It cuts out before the effect in question doesn't it? Curious. I'll check it when i get home if I have time and maybe upload a new copy to try and convince it to work again.

Should be ok now. I checked the file onthe server and it was only about 2Mb when it should have been 5. I've uploaded it again and the link worked fine for me just now. http://www.alandmills.co.uk/WestHamNil.wmv
