Default Help! After effects won't recognise MPEG2

Hi all. i've been playin around with AE for a couple of months now, and am trying to use some footage from my analogue camcorder. so i'm using a tv card to record my footage but unfortunately it records in MPEG 2 which AE won't accept.
So i'm hoping that you kind people can suggest some conversion software to convert to avi or mov, or some alternative capture software.
at the mo i have intervideo winDVR.

oh and i can't use premiere....my processor doesn't support it

ok... thanks for any help you can give me

Hi there,

I use TMPGEnc, eithier 2.5 or Express. That coverts to MPEG, AVI and a few others.

Give that a try.
Peace

VirtualDub-MPEG2 is a good tool for converting MPEG2 to AVI and some of it's filters (particularly temporal smoothing) are good for reducing MPEG compression artifacts.

And it's free.
