Default Premiere Pro 1.5 won't capture widescreen!!!!

Playing a widescreen DVD and capturing to a new Premiere Pro 1.5 project which has been set up as a widescreen project but the captured footage appears 4:3 when played back on the timeline with a frame size of 720 x 576 (1.067) instead of 720 x 576 (1.422) - Help?!?

Will: do a search on this topic. I had exactly the same problem - I was working with widescreen files but could only get playback in 4:3, despite having set up a widescreen project. It turned out that I needed to adjust the pixel dimensions - but I can't remember the option you use to do that. Like I said - you should search for it on the board. (If it's easier to search by poster, it was probably in my last few posts, probably around the early part of May). Good luck.

The words you are looking for are "interpret as". Should be a right click menu option on the asset in Premiere somewhere.

Yes, thats what you need to do. use the interpret footage option and change the aspect of the pixles. I had this problem about 3 weeks ago and took me fore ever to realise my imported video was coming in at 1.0 and I needed it to be 1.2. Hope that helps. you need to right click on the video file in the clip list on the left and then re-place it afterwards in the timeline to make it update correctly.
