I have filmed a car-ride and want to spice it up using Adobe Premiere Pro 7.0. I want to speed up the clip, so it looks like I am driving very fast. This was no problem using the "speed/duration" option, but I want it to gradually increase speed from normal to 450% of the original, so it will look like I start driving at normal speed and then accelerate to 500km/h!!!!
I tried to cut the clip in several small portions and then increasing speed by 50% for each small clip but this gives me a jerky transition which I'm not satisfied with.
I can't find anything on this in the Premiere help function, so I hope someone out there can help me.

I haven't tried this. Is that a way to get the wanted acceleration effect? And if so, how do I do it.

well, you could just delete every 25th frame for 5 seconds, then every 12th and 25th and then every 8th, 16th and 24th etc. there'll be an easier way of doing it though. 
you could do it the way you were doing it, just in smaller increments.

I think I will keep looking for a easier/better way to do it. I was hoping Premiere (or some other editing software) had a function where you could select "accelerate clip - start 100% - end 450%" or something like that. But thanks anyway.

Sorry, I know of no easy way of doing this in Premiere. However, you can do this using Pinnacle Liquid Edition. It has a Dynamic Timewarp editor, which is exactly for this kind of thing.

Or you need a plugin called Twixtor by Reelsmart.
Or after effects or Combustion.
Otherwise you just have to change the rate incrementally as already suggested.
