Default Premiere Elements V1.0 crashing in the Capture window

Hi All,

I have just installed Premiere Elements v1.0 after having trouble with Pinnacle Studio 9.

When I try to capture Premiere Elements crashes causing me to have to end the process in task manager.

My machine spec is an Intel Pentium 4 3ghz processor and 512mb RAM, so I can't really see anything wrong.

Please help...

Many thanks,
Emma.

back when i had elements i noticed that if i had my camera on before i opened capture, it would crash. This was due to it trying to display the timeline on the camera, then quickly trying to caputre. Have your camera off before you go into capture.

I tried this the other night, and although I can now use the capture screen and access all the options etc, as soon as I switch my camera on to do a capture the SW crashes again...

Any ideas?

Many thanks

Emma.

Hi,

What make of camera do you have and did it come with any driver software on CD? Are you using Windows XP and are you connecting the camera using a Firewire cable? I just want to eliminate some of the usual suspects first. If you are using Windows XP make sure you have the latest Direct X version and the most upto date drivers for your graphics card. Switch off the screensaver and any background programs/utilites that are running.

Hiya,

Thanks for your post...

My camera is a Sony DCR-TRV19e, not sure whether it came with drivers, I'll have a look on the Sony website.

My PC is running Windows XP Home edition and I believe it is running the latest activeX as I had problems gaming and that was one of the suggested fixes.

I'll also check for latest drivers for me graphics card.

Many thanks for your suggestions, I'll let you know how I get on.

Many thanks,

Emma.

Sorry for asking more questions, but how much RAM memory does your computer have, what is the make/speed of the CPU and how much hard disk space do you have and when did you last defragment your hard disk?
