Default Adding Audio.....

When adding an MP3 format music file to the audio track, it wont allow me to add certain mp3 files but only allows some files?

Any reasons for this?

I'm using Adobe premiere pro 7 and I tried to edit a video file in it, but upon importing the video file for which the audio was encoded in Mp3 format, the audio did not work, Premiere showed no waveform for the file in the layers view. When playing the avi in the source monitor the sound could be heard no problem :(

Sounds like this could be related

Default Importing MP3s

Hi - Don't know if this is what your looking for but I downloaded a MPE3 to AVI converter called Timidity.
Can't remember the exact websit but it should be easy to find
Only used a couple of times but it seems to work.
Good luck & let me know the out come - especially if you find something better.
John

if it has problems with an mp3, don't give it an mp3!

if it's a download, especially from a crappy filesharing app (kazaa, start waving your hands now...) there's a good chance the file could be corrupted. I could rant now, but i won't. There's a lot of crap floating about filesharing apps. I'd convert it to wav then import the wav to premiere.

Sorry - Timidity is a MP3 to WAV converter not AVI .
Instructions are a bit complex but it seem to work - also its Freeware.
