whats the difference ?

I can contribute a couple of points about keying: both are efficient, but if there’s some green or blue in the subject, this will key out, together with the background. So this affects choice.

Secondly, when close to the subject area, bluescreen tends to be more flattering to pinky Caucasian skin tones. There are probably other factors.

Should have mentioned that it’s all about pureness of colour. Because the 3 primary colours are red, blue & green, the last two are the easier to isolate digitally.

Red can also be keyed, but isn’t so suitable because traces of it appear in skin tones and other normal subject matter.

Yellow, magenta & cyan, the complimentary primary colours can be keyed. But again, traces of these are common, making it difficult to remove from a video scene cleanly.

But proved ideal for the first Predator movie for the cloaked pred effect, against a background that was predominantly green.

But in answer to the original question, blue and green screening are the same thing. Which you choose depends entirely on the colour content of the rest of the frame and is mainly a conveniece thing.

And if you have a close up of someones face and their eyes are blue you have to use green and vice versa. One of them is definitely easier to key out and leaves less artifacts or those little dark rectangles that plague the edges around the foreground object.
