Default Buying Video Camera

I have a old Canon DC 7.2V it bout 7-8 years old and I just started really using it past copule months for making a basketball tape, i would video tape games and capture them. But the camera is old and the video quality isn't great. The tape is suppsoed to automtically pop out and now it won't even pop out so the tape is stuck and capturing is hard becuase it only reconze the camera sometimes. What do you guys recommand? I mean nothing to expensive but is effective.
