Question Importing videos into Adobe Premiere

Hi

I am a novice at Premiere but still after looking at the help and on the net I cannot find the reason why after I import a couple of clips in compressed mpg I cannot even drag them from the Project pane to the Timeline to edit them and, in the end, join the two clips together.

I tried decoding both sequences with Blaze Media Pro and only ended up with over 25 GB of files.

I know I have left something out but I have no idea what.
Please help

Framemaker? Isn't that a desktop publishing application.

Sorry, my mistake. Some of the colleagues at work use Framemaker for CRF design. I was definately thinking about Premiere :o

Which version of Premiere are you using? Up to Pro 1.5 it isn’t designed to edit mpeg without a specialist (expensive) plug-in. I think the boffins advise converting to DV avi. Then you’ll have no trouble.

Not sure about Pro 2, even though I’m using the tryout. No doubt someone will post about this shortly.

Hi

Yes, I use 2.0. But if you suggest conversion to avi I will try it. Is there any special encoding or file format I have to use?

Thanks.
