hello,
i have edited and finished a concert that needs to go onto dvd; however, it came out to be a length of 2 hours and 40 minutes in the end. I want it to be viewed at a good quality but the mpeg-2 that it produces is 7gb... what settings should i use for the best quality and fit on a dvd.. i noticed that the bitrate being lowered almost to one is the only thing that worked but im guessing that is not very good in quality..

do you recommend getting a dual layer dvd recorder and dvd's or any exporting tools that will compress the file?

Thank you very much

To get this to fit on a single layer disc you need to encode at a VBR setting of 3600 average and 9000 max with an mpeg audio rate of 192kbps.

This is quite low and you will get some artifacts in fast moving clips, if possible tighten up the edit and lose any pauses, intros or anything that is not vital to the finished article to get the running time down, this will enable you to increase the bitrate and get better quality.
