Alan, on your site the CSIB movie, at the end of it the credits go from black and as they scroll up the fade in and as they scroll out the fade out, how did you do this?

Hee hee. You won't believe how simple this is.

CSI Bracknell was editted in high def. The titles scroll up as text on black background right? So place your title roll on layer one.

Download this graphic http://www.alandmills.co.uk/Fade%20Gradient.psd

and simply place it on layer two. It's just a simple black fading to alpha channel top and bottom. You might have to resize the image for SD footage though.

Simple but effective eh?

of course. It wouldn't be nearly that simple if the background was video. I'll have a think and see what I can come up wiht for that.

OK, sorted it. To get the fade in and fade effect on top of video do the following.

create sequence one as follows:
place rolling titles on layer one and the fade graphic on layer 2.
Render the timeline.

create sequecne two.
Place you video clip on layer one and the first sequence on layer 2.
Now throw a luma key video effect onto the sequence on layer 2.

Render and you're Done!

yeap, we're scheduled for a shoot tonight from 3 pm till midnight, then i come home and edit, ill test it out!
