i'm using adobe premiere 1.5 to make a video but when i go to export it as an avi with the xvid, it hangs. i don't know what to put my settings to to allow me to do this successfully. it will open up the xvid codec screen after i click save and it just freezes there. please let me know what setting i need to have to perform this. i'm totally new at this so any help will be much appreciated

Premiere and Xvid don't mix. That's it.

If you want to convert to Xvid export dv from premiere and create xvid with virtualdub. To open DV avi in virtualdub you will require the panasonic DV codec.

Google it there are tutorials out there for what you are trying to do.
