I click on file, import, import file, and go to where my JPG files are stored ad get what appears to be an empty folder.

Try changing the file type drop down box to all files.

Hmm, i know JPEGs are supported from 6.5 onwards. If you can't import them, simply convert to Bitmap first

I know I have imported JPG files. All sound a bit erratic. Try this....

Open Control Panel and go into 'System'. Click on the 'Environment' tab.

Have a look at the system variable named "Non Microsoft Apps Behave Erratically'. If it is set to 'ALWAYS' then change it to 'NEVER'.

It cures so many problems - lol. Sorry, couldn't resist.
