Default Video Editing software advice

Hey, im going to be studying moving image/film editing next year but i wanna get a leg up in it so i have a good grounding for when i start. I already have premiere pro, but was wondering what the actual industry standard is, also would it be worth going out and buying premiere elements?? looking to have a career in film editing so advice would be appreciated. cheers

Avid, dude.

But don't buy it just yet - wait until next year to get a big academical discount (how would you like Xpress DV for $ 499 ?).

Meanwhile you can get accustomed to it by using the streamlined, freeware, version of Xpress: Avid FreeDV (www.avid.com/freedv/).

Good luck!

At your level of expertise, probably not. You can upgrade anytime later when you get into serious editing (maybe even turn it into a full-time job).
