When youtry to import a PSD file yout should be presetend with an option to (wording may be incorrect but the idea is ther) merge layers and import as a single image or to import as a sequence.

The latter, indeed, creates a new sequence, imports each layer as a sperate asset and then places the assets on the new sequence timeline, in the correctlayer order.

I've never seen the error you're describing. Guesses are....

Are you saving the PSD from Photoshop. If not then maybe it's not quite the right format being saved.

Try doing a save as in your editor to create a new version of the file.

So what s/w are you using to create your PSD files and have you tried either of the two ideas I had?

Your reply seesm to dwell on the top part of my post and ignore the ideas I had to solve the problem.

Then, my friend, I am at a loss. I've never had this problem. I can only assume that maybe your PSD files contains a structure that Premiere cannot cope with. Maybe layer sets or masks or something?

Just guessing here. Try starting with a simple PSD file, say two layers and see if that works etc. Also, try flattening some layers down and see if that helps. A bit of trial and error to see what aspect of the file is causing the issue.

Alternatively, if you do not need the indivusdal layers preserved in premiere then flatten the whole image and say in some lossless format (tiff?) and import that.

Let us know how this goes. I'm curious.

I got this problem. You have to save as 8 bit when you get the option in Photoshop.

Not infront of PC right now but I can get you a walk through if you have no joy.
