Default Archive Compression?

I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good codec / compressor and export settings to use for archiving uncompressed DV footage. It would be nice for the video to look pretty good, but I don't need for the footage to look completely lossless . . . I just want to compress it enough to cut the filesize down at least 50-75%

I appreciate the help!
