Hi i was wondering how i would be able to add text onto the video, and then fade it in and then out. I have Adobe Premier 6.5 & Adobe After Effects.

Thanks

Create a new video line above the video track you want as a background. Then create a new title and place it on this new line where you want it. You can specify which bits you want to have transparent, and by how much, when the title editor is open.
Then just dissolve from the video to the title, and when you're happy with the length, dissolve back to the video.
Throughout this the video will be visible in the parts which you chose to be transparent or left blank.

It's been a while since I had a play with v6.5 but you may have to place black video left and right of your 'title' to get the fade in and out to work. Imight be mistaken but I thought 6.5 was a little fussy about allowing transitions on the start and end with no subsequenet clip.

Respectfully, if you have not yet got as far as knowing how to apply a simple dissolve transition then you should be spending more time with your Premier manual.
