Default Using After Effects 6.5 with Premiere Pro 7.0

Hello all...
I have an issue with After Effects 6.5 and Premiere Pro 7.0. I imported a bunch of stuff and edited it all in Premiere Pro, and then I got After Effects so I could make better effects. My problem is that I can't get the Premiere Pro project with all the reference links into After Effects. Is this how I would use After Effects to add effects to my movie? Is there another way?
Sorry, I'm a noob at this because I just got After Effects yesterday... :P

Btw, my first post. Yay!

You can't get the Premiere Pro project with all the reference links into After Effects. You have to render your Premiere project into AVI clip which you can import into AfterEffects for further processing. Never forget to limit your AVI clip-length(the one that you are going to export to AfterEffects) as small as possible. Lengthy clip will not give you a smooth preview unless you have a lot of RAM(above 1GB). Import only the minimum required length of clip which you want to process in AfterEffects.

So you're saying I should go step by step.
Step one: Edit the video without special effects: cut it and add audio
Step two: export uncompressed
Step three: Import to After Effects and add special effects
