Default AVI freezing after 5 minutes?

When i put my AVI file on to the timeline, all 20 minutes of it go on, but at around the 5 minute mark the picture just freezes and the audio from the last half second loops over and over again, the filesize of the AVI is 5.7 GB is it helps. Thanks!

What are your computer specs? Free hard disk space? Have you defragged your drives?
