Default Editing MPEG2 from a DVDcam

Hi,

Is anyone able to edit MPEG2 using Adobe Premiere? If so what kind of machine are you running?

I am trying to edit MPEG2 video taken with my Sony DVD cam using Adobe Premiere and a Celereon 1.7Ghz processor. I am not able to preview my movie in the sequence monitor nor am I able to render my movie. I believe that my CPU is not powerful enough to deal with the already compressed MPEG2 format. I'm worried I have to work backwards and convert my movie clips into DV.

I would like to hear from someone who is able to handle the MPEG2, and what type of computer they are using.

Thanks in advance,

Nick
