0 Videos nominated Video Of the Month(s): 0 | | Mpeg2 encoding with Premier 6
I have edited my video and am now trying to encode it to mpeg2 to create 1 video and 1 audio file. I have a Pinacle DV 500 video card. I am using the premier encoder with the pinacle MP2 encoding setting. When the encoding has reached about half way it stops and freezes the program. I have tried twice with the same result.
What can I do.
Any Ideas???

Perhaps a FAT32 file size limitation.

The video length is around 60 mins and it stops at frame 240 out of 356. This is about 40 mins. Would this equate to 4GB at mp2 compression?

Easy way to work out is to either calculate from the video/auido bitrate - or look at the size of partial file that was created (it will be on your harddrive somewhere).

Thank for pointing that out. Yes I found the unfinished file and it was3.99GB. I have adjusted the bitrate and I now have 1 mp2 file of 2.5GB and a wav file. I am now trying to import them into Pinnacle Impression 2.1SE. (Old version I suppose). It appears to import but if I try to drag the mp2 file to the timeline it says "The video file has not finished importing". This is long after the progress bar has finished. I thought the file may be corrupt but it plays OK in Media Player.
I also have Pinnacle Expression as part of Instant CD/DVD but that does not recognise either the mp2 file or the wav file. According to help it should allow both of them to import. Anyway I'm stuck for now as I can't author the video and make the DVD.
Do you have any ideas about how I can import the files into my software or is there any freeware or demo software I could try off the net?

So annoying FAT32. Best bet is to convert to NTFS.
