Importing Problems!!

I'm having a nightmare at the moment with Premiere Pro.

I have to capture my VHS with Pinnicle Studio 8, but I like editing with Prem Pro. But I'm getting problem importing more than one clip into a project. I can import one clip and edit nicely, but when I try and import another clip, my PC freezes!!. Anybody got any clues on how I can sort this problem out?
