well ill get right to the point. is widescreen 16:9 better then standard 4:3?

"better"... is a relative notion
16:9 is more "film look", but more difficult to edit, for compatibility reasons.
4:3 is the "TV look" and that's why most amateurs think switching to 16:9 (even if it's letterbox) will help their productions look more professional.

I prefer to use a new standard called 2:76 - ultra narrowscreen
