I would suggest a complete format and reinstall of the OS. But this is drastic action! I really thought it would have been a codec problem though.

You could do worse than uninstalling Premiere, then reinstalling (make sure your run a registry cleaner to get rid of all the Premiere entries before re-install).

hello, okay ive done the exercise instructed. and not to my surprise it didnt make a difference. is there anything else i can try before reinstalling windows? thanks for your time on this 1 by the way.

Defrag your harddrives and then start a completely new project. See if the same thing happens.

okay i havent defragged yet. these are installed video codecs on my system, which ones shall i remove???

1) ATIYUV12.DLL
2) Cinepak Codec by Radius Inc.
3) Indeo codec by Intel
4) iyuv_32.dll
5) Microsoft RLE Codec
6) Microsoft Video 1
7) msh 261
8) msh 263
9) msyuv.dll
10) tsbyuv.dll

it does play the clips but there is noticeable flickering. the footage doesnt look good enough and is no comparison to what im used to
