| | dv to dvd i thought id cracked it exporting edited dv in premiere to dvd
i used the 7mb vbr 2 pass setting with surcode audio but that had only 3 trial uses and then the next setting was a poorer video setting 1 pass, so i tried editing the surcode setting to mainconcept audio but that was silent and then when i selected pcm audio 48 it worked on a short 20 second test clip
however when i try to burn a 10 minute clip i get an error it says exceeded maximum bitrate yet i have selected the same settings as the surcode preset
so i am trying again with slightly lower max and target bitrates
was 9000 and 7500 but am trying 200 less on each setting
is the pcm audio screwing things up?
is there a work around?
cheers

| | cheers marc i will try that
here is the error i get in between transcoding and burning the disc - (is it the assembling disc stage?):-
Could not complete the last command because: Data exceeded multiplexable bit rate. (DVDErr, -20404)PGC Info: name = Movie 1, ref = Apgc, time = 570.425
how come i burned 3 discs at the highest setting with surcode audio with no problems? yet as soon as the surcode trial runs out the same video settings give errors?
can i output an mpeg2 file to hard drive using premiere so i can use tmpgenc dvd author? premiere outputs transcodes and burns all in one go and takes ages |

| | Not familiar with "surcode", but if it's a dolby encoder, the audio bitrate will be a LOT less than PCM (which is ucompressed). Sounds like the extra bitrate is increasing the multiplexed audio and video above the DVD standard (that is the combined bitrate is too high). |

| | why isnt there a preset at 7mb vbr 2 pass without surcode audio that doesnt give errors?
what does everyone else do when burning dvd's?
tried one of the lesser settings and pic quality was poor
it takes so long to test each adjustment in settings i was hoping someone would tell me what they use
will try maximum bitrate below 8000 to see if that does anything for now
