Default Computer freeze's when trying to capture video.

I'm not sure if this is the right forum but when I use Adobe Premiere 1.5 it's happen alot to me and I'm not sure what to do. Everytime I try to capture video from my camera the computer freezes. I have a Dell and I installed myself a new FireWire port. The first time it worked but now it always freeze's and I'm not sure what to do.

Have you tried using different software to capture?

could be a problem with drivers, or the Firewire card itself,
which Operating System are you using? if Win XP, which Service packs have you installed?

I've had no problems capturing with a Dell PC and Premiere so far.

I use Windows XP, and all other softwares do the same thing, I downloaded Service Pack two to try to see if it would work and it didn't even help. Capturing to Adobe Premiere worked one time when I bought the FireWire card. But anyways I'm trying to buy a Mac for editing and other things.

If all software has the same problem, then I suppose the fault is with the firewire cable/card or your camera.

If the problem is the cable or your camera then even buying a mac won't help you, maybe you could try to capture on a different computer, just to check your cameras/cable isn't causing it.

It would suck to get a decent editing system and then still not be able to capture.

It must be the card because I've tried it on my friends computer with my wires and it worked.
