Thread: My filmstrip won't stay in widescreen! argh!

yeah, it's been quite awhile since I've posted here...I've been busy with school and countless video projects.

I've got a bit of a problem. I'm using Premiere 7.0, and I'm making a Star Wars imitation with glowy lightsabers rotoscoped in Photoshop. Not a problem there, right? Export as a filmstrip, open it up in Photoshop, and draw in the lightsaber blades.

Wrong.

See, I'm using the widescreen feature on my Canon Elura 65 (and it's true widescreen! on a $400 camera! ). When I export my 16:9 video as a filmstrip and open it up, it's all squished into the 4:3 format.

I guess I could just film everything again in 4:3; we didn't film very much, it wouldn't be hard to film again. But I'd really rather find a solution to this problem. Is there any way to export the filmstrip as 16:9 without the video being squished down into 4:3?

That's normal. When you import back into Premiere, simply right click and use the interpret fiootage function to get it back to the correct aspect ratio.

or....

just change the pixel aspect ratio in Photoshop like I do You'll need Photoshop CS though.
