Default Slow motion with audio/video synchronized no pitch change ?

I need to make video clips for English learners where the audio is slow but easily comprehensible (hence the no-pitch-change) and synched with the video of course. I have Studio 8 but the slow mo has no audio as near as I can tell. Would Premiere 6.0 do the job (limited budget so Premiere Pro not an option).

Thanks for any help.

Can't really answer your question, but ss this really a good idea (changing the speed of audio, that is). As a foreign language student of many moons ago, I've never come accross this method. Sure, it's a hell of a lot easier to understand someone speaking slowly, but that's mainly due to the longer gaps between words (making it easier to distinguish words). Slowly the voice down will lose some of the intonation, surley?

And I always found the best way to learn was to listen to someone talking reasonably quickly two or three times.

But then I'm in pensions, not linguistics!

Let me just ask this: is there a video editing program out there that slows down both the audio and the video?

Thanks
Dave

P.S. I agree that listening multiple times to normal speech is an excellent method, but slowing down the audio allows the student to listen to much more material without going nuts...

That's not really an easy question to answer. I know for a fact that Premiere Pro can do exactly what you want as that's the editing app that I currently have installed. Chances are Premiere Elements will therefore do the same, and I recommend you download the trial to investigate further.

The trial! Now why didn't I think of that! Guess I didn't realize there was a trial. Thanks very much for an excellent idea! I'll report back if it's successful. If you don't hear from me, you can draw your own conclusions!

Just had a play in Premiere 6, It slows down both the video and Audio, but it changes the pitch of the audio, and I couldn't find a quick option for not changing the pitch aswell, or changing the pitch only sfterwards.

however, I had a play in Audacity, which you can download for free here: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/, and it's pretty easy to change the speed, then adjust the pitch so it's normal again.

so you could export the audio as a wav from your project, then edit the audio in Audacity, and export as an mp3 or wav, and import that into your studio 8 project.

a pretty round-about way of doing it, but its free.

I've had a play woith clo-mo effect recently and Premiere Pro willslow down the audio as well. However, i suspect that unlinking the audio from the video track willa void this.
