premiere pro = pro 1.0 = premiere pro 7.0
premiere pro 1.5 = premiere pro 7.5

Basically, Adobe had Premiere up to version 6.5 when they released the next version. Generally dubbed v7. But they actuyally renamed the tool from 'Premiere' to 'Premeire Pro' and so they technically considered it a new product so took the version number back down to 1.

I've never heard 1.5 referred to as 7.5 but v7 and Pro 1.5 are synonymous terms.

I thought is was more than just a rename. I thought they started over from the ground up with Premiere Pro. Wasn’t Premiere Pro actually a piece of software that was a version 1.0 release?

Of course. I didn't mean to imply that they changed the name and nothing else so reset it to v1. The app is vastly different to 6.5. but as there is no longer a piece of s/w called 'premiere', Premiere Pro is often referred to as v7, that's all.
