Default Fade in problem whilst compositing

I just cant seem to hack how to do this properly. If you look at this brief clip it shows my problem. I am using premier elements 7. The rocks are on the layer above the background image. If I apply a fade to both clips starting and ending at the same time I get the result shown.

I have tried messing around with delaying one then the other, but I only seem to make it worse. I want them both to fade up and for the rocks to look as if they belong in the picture.

The fade on both tracks is operating on opacity.

Default Sorted

Thanks to a tip from another place I have now been shown how to crack this little problem. The issue is caused by applying a fade to both tracks. As one track is above another, it tries to apply a fade to the track below as well as its self.

Solution is to place some black video above both tracks and either fade that up or down as needed. It then sorts out all the subtracks. Simples
