Premier, MPG files have no sound !?

I have some 30 clips and i am making movie for my friend that have sony camera with HardDisc and he gave me that clips....

Problem is that i don't have sound on them when i import them in Premier.

They have sound in Media player classic and they have sound when i rename the extension to "avi" and import them in premier, but then i have some problems when i try to increase length of clip i get some interruption on clip when played.

Is there some solution to import some codec in premier or something alse then converting all files to "avi" with some converter ?

Convert the files to DV-AVI using Super or MpegStreamclip, that will be the easiest solution.

I'm sure this has been asked before. CS4 right? not sure how much it;s acknowledged by Adobe but I've read a lot of posts around the World on this. I;ve not suffered it myself (yet) but from what I read this bug may have actually appeared in the first patch of all things. Hopefully an update from them on it soon.

D'oh! Not the same problem I was reading about then. Curious the symptoms are exactly alike.

Have you tried Chuck's work around? That should fix your problem.

i didnt, i have that in mind i am considering maybe to convert it with premier.

i will try both in few days.

This isn't an option, surely? You'll end up with the same problem.

yes, i decide to work with no sound clips and then import sound all in one and crop it where i need it. i record my sound for all clips in same time by Adobe Soundbooth CS3 by line in recording.
