Default Xvid Problem - Able to import on PC but not on Mac

On my PC, I could import Xvid/DivX encoded files just fine into Premiere Pro CS3. (even .vob files)

Now on my MBP, I haven't been able to import any kind of avi file that is encoded with Xvid. I get the same error message of "unsupported compression format". I'm not sure why, I had both codecs installed.

I followed the steps listed here to install Xvid on my Mac.

xvidmovies.com/mac

(I copied the xvid component into the Quicktime library. Videos play back fine outside Premiere but no luck importing them into it.)

Did I install it correctly? Or is there another installation directory that would enable xvid or divx and even .vob file videos in Premiere Pro CS3?

Or are there any other methods I could use to enable xvid encoded files in Premiere?

Do you have the correct codecs installed on your machine?

On my Mac, I installed the DivX codec and then Xvid component like the directions on the site I listed above stated to do.

After doing that I could play back Xvid files in Quicktime, but still no luck in Premiere. Is there another directory on a Mac that would allow me to install codecs for the entire machine instead of just quicktime? Or is there something else I'm doing wrong wrong with the xvid installation?

This might be a good question for the Adobe forum, but I'm sure that not many Pro users are using DivX files in their projects either, way too compressed
